Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lower Elementary Teacher to join our Montessori school community. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Montessori approach and a strong commitment to fostering a love of learning in young children. The Lower Elementary Teacher will be responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for students in grades 1-3.

• Develop and implement a Montessori-based curriculum that is tailored to the needs of individual students in the Lower Elementary program.
• Observe and document student progress and development, and provide regular feedback to parents and caregivers.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports each student's social and emotional growth.
• Use a variety of teaching methods, including individual and small group instruction, to meet the needs of all students.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to develop and implement school-wide policies and procedures.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training opportunities as required.
• Maintain accurate records and complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including those related to safety, health, and child protection.

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
• Montessori Elementary I or Elementary I-II certification.
• At least 2 years of experience teaching in a Montessori Lower Elementary program preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and developmental milestones.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

The Montessori Lower Elementary Teacher may be required to stand or walk for extended periods of time, and to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. The teacher may also need to kneel or bend down to interact with students at their level. The ability to move around the classroom and keep up with the students is essential.

The Montessori Lower Elementary Teacher will work in a classroom environment with students in grades 1-3. The teacher may need to deal with challenging behavior or emotional situations from time to time, and should be able to remain calm and patient in these situations.
