Package Gas Driver 2 – Kapolei, HI

Position Summary

Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of materials, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and local roads. Duties include driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads against shipping papers, maintaining duty status records per State and Federal regulations, and performing pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections. The driver must present a professional business image, possess a valid commercial Class A Drivers’ License with Hazmat, Air Brake, and Medical card endorsements, and qualify as a packaged gas straight truck driver (pumper, micro‑bulk).

Preferred:
Class A Drivers’ License with Tanker endorsements. Reports to the Site or Operations Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Transport cylinders to internal and external customers in a timely, safety‑conscious manner, staying within posted speed limits and complying with DOT and company safety policies.
  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Maintain the vehicle in a clean and proper condition.
  • Legibly complete driver log/trip reports daily.
  • Accurately record cylinder and hard‑goods transactions on customer delivery tickets and trip reports.
  • Maintain good communication with supervisor and management regarding safety and customer matters.
  • Operate or drive a forklift truck for loading and unloading products.
  • Model company loss‑prevention policies and report accidents, near misses, unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Utilize effective time‑management tools to meet work commitments and scheduled deadlines, coordinate with stakeholders to identify issues, minimize risks, ensure safety, and deliver on time.
  • Participate as an active member of the local safety committee when assigned.
  • Fill cryogenic liquid dewars.
  • Provide first‑line technical support.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Valid commercial Class A Driver’s License with Hazmat, Air Brake, and Medical card endorsements; packaged gas straight truck driver (pumper, micro‑bulk). Tanker endorsements preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous commercial driving experience or graduation from an accredited commercial driving school.
  • At least one year of road experience; no moving violations in the past three years.
  • Minimum age 21 with an excellent driving record.
  • Physical ability to push a 200‑lb cylinder and lift 50+ lb containers.
  • Proficient reading and writing in English; basic math skills; ability to handle receipts, read maps and road signs, and maintain duty status records.
  • Basic administrative functions and problem‑solving skills.
  • Flexibility with work hours.
  • Ability to work in diverse weather and working conditions, including prolonged sitting, bending, stooping, and climbing.
  • Preferred: previous experience in the cylinder gas specialty chemical industry.
