SummaryA heavy equipment/diesel mechanic performs a variety of tasks to maintain, repair, service, and construct heavy equipment. Heavy equipment mechanics may work on a variety of equipment, including: pickup trucks, automobiles, tractors, forklifts, backhoes, drill rigs, pump hoist trucks, cranes, large compressors, and ancillary equipment and machines.
Under the direction of the Shop Manager and Vice President, the Mechanic will perform the day-to-day activities of fueling and mechanics on their assigned duties to ensure that cost-effective equipment servicing and maintenance are performed so that projects can work without being impacted by downtime. Participates in service planning for equipment with the shop manager or VP. Complies with company policies and safety procedures.
This position requires experience within the construction industry, ability to prioritize, adapt to changing conditions, communicate clearly and work under pressure. They are responsible for effective coordination with the management team to ensure safety, quality, production and schedule goals are met.
- Inspecting:
Examine equipment to determine the extent of repairs - Diagnosing:
Use computerized tools and equipment to identify malfunctions - Repairing:
Fix defective or worn parts, such as bearings, pistons, and gears - Overhauling:
Test major components, such as engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems - Maintaining:
Perform scheduled maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating parts - Adjusting:
Adjust and repair grader blades and loader bucket assemblies - Welding:
Perform minor welding and brazing work - Estimating:
Prepare work estimates of labor and parts costs - Reporting:
Keep records and make reports - Advising:
Advise on parts and equipment selection - Instructing:
Instruct operators on equipment operation and servicing
Pay Rate
: $40-$55/hr

Requirements- Ability to work legally in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 5 years heavy equipment/diesel mechanic
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work in physically demanding environments.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various conditions (outdoors, confined spaces, heights, etc.).
- Willingness to learn, follow safety guidelines, and work as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license, Hawaii CDL (Class B minimum)
