Diesel Technician

Overview

Diesel Technician role at Ryder System, Inc. in Kapolei, Hawaii. Immediate permanent full-time experienced mid-level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet.

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance and routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.)
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root causes of basic failures and performs repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Works in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT and other applicable guidelines
• Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance
• Two years or more of classroom training and/or work experience in the field preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and Ryder background/motor vehicle check (last 3 years)
• Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles as part of the role

• Hourly pay: $27.68 per hour
• Certification bonus of $100 per new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter
• Sign-on bonuses: $1,000 at 30 days and $1,000 at 90 days

Hours:

Second shift Monday–Friday 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm, Saturday 6:30 am - 3:30 pm;

Schedule:

Monday–Saturday with one day off during the week
