Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for learning the management of a small driver count and for operating non‑traditional shifts, including nights and weekends. The role ensures the safe and timely movement of freight, load assignment, and provision of best‑in‑class customer service. The candidate will receive training to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and will be responsible for all drivers’ compliance with company regulations, working with internal and external contacts to ensure accurate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight and loads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and reliable outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set‑up, minimize turnover, and maximize ongoing productivity.
  • Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and contribute to special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and achieving profitability.
  • Utilize personnel management skills, including training and orientation of drivers and employees, and assist with internal and third‑party (customer) systems.
  • Maximize fleet operations efficiency and profitability, making recommendations for continuous improvement, measuring key performance indicators, and presenting customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis at customer locations.
  • Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
  • Perform administrative duties such as payroll, Net‑Revenue budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documentation, pay issue resolution, P&L analysis, invoicing, and operational or financial reporting.
  • Manage the yard, including equipment inspection, part replacement (e.g., mud flaps), repair coordination, and ensuring preventive maintenance services are scheduled and safety‑related mechanical issues are fixed.
  • Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing or planning challenges, mechanical problems, accessorial pay issues, and other daily operational concerns, including on‑call situations.
  • Maintain the company’s safety culture through daily driver safety messages, monthly safety briefings, quarterly training, annual reviews, and enforcement of DOT compliance and company safety requirements.
  • Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service, meet customer requirements, manage freight exceptions, and adjust driver ETAs based on pickup and delivery schedules and other road factors.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable.
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends when needed.
  • Willingness to relocate regionally depending on account assignment.

Compensation

Starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives tied to profitability or volume, in accordance with the company’s bonus and incentive plans.
