Buhler USD 313 is accepting applications for the position of Substitute Nurse for the district. This is an on-call substitute position. Substitute Nurses must have a CMA, LPN, or RN license.

POSITION TITLE:

SCHOOL NURSE- SUBSTITUTE

SUPERVISOR:

Building Principal

CLASSIFICATION:

This is an on-call position with no scheduled work hours

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Kansas Board of Nursing License (RN or LPN)

Must have communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, telephone and interpersonal)

Must have current certification of First Aid and CPR/AED

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide emergency care and first aid for accidents and sudden illness of students until parents assume responsibility so students have the best possible care.

Provide health room coverage in the absence of the School Nurse.

Follow district health services guidelines in documentation of daily health visits, medications, procedures and other health service related functions as directed by the registered nurse.

Maintain documentation as directed.

Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information in order to remain in compliance with legal requirements and to maintain a professional work environment.

Perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective functioning of the school health program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.

Ability to travel between the schools throughout the school system.

Requires direct physical contact with students including first aid care, direct nursing procedures and physical assessment of students with possible exposure to body fluids that requires protective garments and/or gloves for exposure control under limited circumstances.

Requires physical presence at the job.
