Purpose of Position

Responsible for tasks below or as deemed necessary by clinic director. Communicate with patients, pharmacists and physicians on prescription refill requests. Help out on the clinic floor when staffing/volume demands it. Obtain and administer narcotics as ordered by the providers. Be available for duties assigned by the clinic director as deemed necessary. Maintain quality assurance and quality improvements as warranted. Monitor supplies and medications for quantity, quality, and outdates.

Essential

Functions
  • Basic knowledge of medical software
  • Make appointments as needed
  • Telephone triage
  • Monitor inventory including quantity, quality, and outdates & check AED regularly
  • Help coordinate the immunization program and keep records updated in WEB IZ
  • Help front desk with scheduling and calls as needed
  • Help with physician scheduling and clinical templates as needed; to include marking out days off and training physicians on template
  • Communicate any issues to the clinic supervisor and director
  • Help with updates on policies and procedures as needed
  • Participate in training of new staff and training with the EMR
  • Document communication with patients in EMR.
  • Prescription refill authorization
  • Check patients into rooms as needed – entering patient med history and update all meds in EMR.
  • Patient education
  • Schedule Park Lane days for each provider. Block schedules, as needed, for this.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • In-Service as required by SCH

  • All individuals in this department are expected to treat patients under the direction of the physicians in compliance with the wishes of the patient/customer and family members as long as it does not conflict with physician’s orders and is in the best interest of the patient/customer. At no time should the personal interests and beliefs of a staff member interferes with treatment and care a patient/customer receives.
  • Assumes other duties as requested by management.
Education, Qualifications, Experience

RN/LPN licensure, CPR certified

Previous Healthcare Experience Preferred.

Expectation of Service
  • Expected to be at work no later than 8:30 a.m.
  • Will need to remain until their provider is finished for the day.
  • Lunch Break- 12:00 to 1:00 – will need to clock out.
  • This is a non-exempt position. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
  • Use of PTO will follow Hospital Associate Handbook

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medications

  • Able to document in a neat, legible manner and be able to spell medical and pharmaceutical words correctly.
  • Communication skills to train new and current staff.
  • Ability to effectively triage patient calls.

Physical Requirements

Medical office environment. Contact with patients, general public and physicians. Multi-task-oriented position with frequent interruptions. May require sitting for long periods of time. Some bending, stooping, and lifting. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. May occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
