Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day activities of two grain elevators, one seasonal and the other—including loading/unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, and storage of grain. Maintain a safe, sanitary workplace in compliance with company policies and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNR, DOT, etc). Will train and lead hourly employees in operations, safety, food safety, and maintaining facilities. Perform special assignments, initiating improvements to most effectively meet operation objectives.

Establish and maintain appropriate preventative maintenance, sanitation, and operation schedules. This is a salaried, exempt-level role.

Position Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations, demonstrating safety leadership with a goal of zero injuries.
  • Adhere to and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and FSMA requirements. Be responsible for daily plant operations, including safety/environmental compliance, food safety, quality control, production, cost optimization, and efficiencies.
  • Recognize environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and take actions to eliminate them, protecting employee safety, product quality, and environmental purity.
  • Address employee concerns and maintain good communication and morale.
  • Work with employees to develop a high level of job proficiency. Analyze maintenance performance and work to improve efficiencies.
  • Provide positive reinforcement when employees produce good results and safe performance.
  • Maintain discipline and document unusual or unacceptable behaviors.
  • Develop employees actively—engage in their training of hourly labor.
  • Utilize mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds.
  • Stay current with emerging regulations and codes related to system design and operation.
  • Follow corporate policies and standards in daily activities.
  • Lead and analyze preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain documentation and identify cost-saving ideas.
  • Lift and transport materials up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Prolonged standing, frequent bending, stooping, walking, and reaching.
  • Operate manual and electrically powered tools; move throughout facility, climb stairs/ladders, work at heights.
  • Work indoors and outdoors year-round, sometimes in dusty, noisy, or hazardous environments.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma/GED with years of on-the-job training.
  • 2–3 years’ experience developing a team.
  • Troubleshooting/problem solving experience.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Mechanical, electrical, leadership skills.
  • Job Hazard Analysis and safety compliance experience.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Report writing experience.
  • Ability to train others.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime when working qualifying hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will” position and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to performance, company or department performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
$72,900.00 – $

Salaried Incentive Plan

The total compensation package for this position will also include an annual bonus.
