OverviewSets up, runs, and monitors furnaces bloqueo/ovens to harden, anneal, or temper aluminum parts. Follows work orders to adjust temperatures and timings, loads and unloads equipment, cleans, performs basic maintenance, and conducts system accuracy testing while strictly following safety protocols and documenting processes.
Responsibilities- Operate furnaces, ovens, and quench tanks; adjust controls for temperature and cycle times.
- Load and unload parts into equipment, often using forklifts or cranes; prepare parts and fixtures for processing.
- Read work orders, monitor gauges and charts, and adjust settings to meet specifications.
- Clean equipment and perform minor repairs; maintain a clean work area.
- Record operational data, process parameters, and results as applicable.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, wear PPE as required, and operate equipment safely.
- Follow established policies and procedures to ensure effective heat treatment operations are met.
- Perform basic equipment inspection and maintenance.
- Conduct weekly system accuracy tests.
- Facilitate monthly temperature uniformity surveys.
- Conduct solution heat treatment of parts, including quenching.
- Perform precipitation (age) hardening of parts.
- Load and unload ovens.
- Rinse quenchant.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures using calibrated equipment.
- Utilize electronic furnace logs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Relevant experience in heat treat operations or a similar manufacturing process.
- Understanding of temperature control and material hardening.
- Ability to read and follow work orders and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE usage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
- Valid forklift or crane operator certification preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
