Wenger Mfg LLC is a leader in the industry dedicated to delivering high-quality parts to our customers. We are currently looking for a talented CNC Machinist to join our production team in Galena, KS. This position operates on 2nd shift, working 10-hour days Monday through Thursday.
The estimated hourly range for this role is $25.00 - $28.00. This position is eligible for a 10% shift differential. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
CNC Machinist II functions as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. This role will operate/change over specified machinery in the assigned area. Machinist II must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and continuous improvement. Machinist II must have the skill set to train and/or perform the tasks of other employees in the area as needed.
This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support site objectives.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Proficient in the setup, editing, and operation of CNC lathes and mills with Fanuc or Okuma OSP controls.
- Proven skill set to set up and operate 3 axis machine centers. With the capacity to learn up to 7 axis.
- Versed in Rotary or Indexing capability as the application applies to the Verticals and Horizontal Machine Center.
- Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner using proper feed and speed.
- Takes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause level.
- Assess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments and malfunction troubleshooting.
- Performs and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenance.
- Demonstrates high degree of ownership for product quality: check parts to ensure specifications are met according to print.
- Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventories.
- Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts.
- Standing on a concrete floor.
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment.
- Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50lbs occasionally.
- Minimum two (2) years verifiable machining experience.
- Fork Truck experience.
- Able to grind cutting tools, read and interpret blueprints and work order instructions.
- Understand three and four axis machining.
- Understand the picking up of a center line of a horizontal table.
- Working knowledge of computers.
- Able to take verbal and written instructions and work from handmade sketches.
- Demonstrate knowledge of G-Code.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Have a High school diploma, GED or equivalent education.
- Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules.
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language.
- Completion of Apprenticeship program or Technical school preferred.
- 4+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines.
- 4 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline.
- Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and email.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles.
