The Opportunity The Project Manager will lead the successful delivery of a major underground mining expansion project. This role is accountable for all aspects of project planning, execution, contractor management, and integration with an operating underground mine.
The position requires strong technical expertise in underground mine development and materials handling infrastructure, combined with proven leadership capability to manage geographically distributed teams across site and corporate locations. The Project Manager will promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, excellence, and respect, ensuring these values are embedded in all project activities and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end delivery of a large-scale underground mining project from planning through commissioning and handover.
* Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change control to achieve agreed outcomes.
* Oversee underground mine development activities, including lateral and vertical infrastructure.
* Deliver materials handling infrastructure, including crushers, conveyors, and transfer systems.
* Manage and coordinate contractors, engineering consultants, and OEMs to ensure safe and efficient execution.
* Ensure seamless integration of new infrastructure into existing mining operations.
* Champion safety leadership and ensure compliance with statutory and site safety requirements.
* Identify and mitigate project and operational risks impacting safety, cost, schedule, or performance.
* Lead and develop a multidisciplinary project team across site and off-site locations.
* Provide clear, accurate reporting to senior leadership and governance stakeholders.
What You Will Need
* Proven experience delivering large, technically complex underground mining projects, with block cave expansion experience.
* Strong working knowledge of underground development methods and infrastructure systems.
* Demonstrated capability in contractor-led delivery models within active mining operations.
* Track record of leading teams and managing stakeholders across multiple locations.
* High level of competence in project controls, risk management, and execution discipline.
* Strong commitment to safe work practices and professional standards.
