Previous experience with large ag equipment or commercial/turf equipment is welcomed but not required; we can train the right individual willing to work hard and place customers as their #1 priority.

General

Purpose:

The Store Manager is responsible for directing and managing the overall aftermarket objectives and processes for a specific AVE‑PLP location, providing leadership in evaluating, allocating, and managing human, physical, and financial resources. The Store Manager reports to the Region Operations Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Executes the business plan and achieves financial performance through budgets and cost control.
  • Optimizes profitable growth, employee development, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assesses and validates capital expenditure needs.
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with all existing and new customers and resolves elevated issues.
  • Ensures appropriate communication within and across aftermarket departments, including leading department staff meetings and employee meetings.
  • Communicates with other location leaders to implement best practices and consistent processes.
  • Supports general management in implementing changes across departments.
  • Ensures successful planning and execution of marketing activities and events.
  • Oversees maintenance and security and ensures a professional appearance of the facility and property.
  • Performs other duties as required to ensure the success of AVE‑PLP.
Supervisory Duties
  • Directly manages the Service Manager, Parts Manager, and other support staff.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Consistently promote, support, and act in alignment with AVE‑PLP’s DNA.
  • Knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, promote teamwork, and cultivate a positive, safety‑conscientious work environment.
  • Solid analytical, business planning, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of financial metrics, financial statements, and P&L reports.
  • Knowledge of parts and service department operations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with customers, employees, and peers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle varying variables.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or business preferred.
Experience
  • Five or more years in a retail environment preferred.
  • One or more years as a parts or service manager or in a sales role preferred.
  • Combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Additional Requirements / Licenses / Certifications
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Pass MVR, criminal history background check, employment verification, and drug screening before employment.
Working Environment
  • Travel to customer locations, meetings, and other store locations regularly.
  • Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather; walking on uneven terrain; exposure to insects.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, vibration.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • PPE required including cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and provided uniform.
  • Clean and safety‑conscientious work environment required.
  • Long hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, evening possible.
