The locomotive service technician inspects, repairs and maintains locomotives consistent with FRA and company policies. The team members will be required to perform mechanical related maintenance. The ability to work with others and be productive is essential to the success of this position, the company, and all team members. All team members are to treat each other in the same manner they would expect to be treated themselves.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Provide a level of customer service consistent with company standards and expectations
- Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of gauges, testing instruments, and related diagnostic equipment
- Accurately complete all required documentation, including Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) reports related to mechanical job duties
- Dismantle and repair mechanical devices using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to remove, replace, or repair defective parts
- Record hour meter readings for inspections and preventive maintenance activities
- Inspect locomotives for air, fuel, oil, water, and exhaust leaks; clean and service as necessary
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position and location. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must possess valid driver’s license and be insurable by company insurance provider to drive and operate company vehicles and equipment as necessary
