# Houseman This role forms part of the housekeeping team at Camps Bay Retreat, within the Village n Life hospitality group.
** The Role
** As a Houseman you’ll support the housekeeping team with physical tasks and ensure public areas, rooms and facilities are maintained to Village n Life standards. You’ll assist with cleaning, maintenance, garden upkeep and guest requests, helping create a well-kept and welcoming environment.
** Key Responsibilities**– Clean public areas, rooms, bathrooms and storerooms  – Maintain the pool and outdoor areas  – Carry linens, towels, toiletries and cleaning supplies  – Move furniture, turn mattresses and polish furniture and equipment  – Sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors as required  – Clean carpets, rugs, draperies and upholstery with appropriate equipment  – Wash windows, walls and woodwork, waxing and polishing where needed  – Maintain gardens by sweeping and removing dead plants  – Keep storage areas stocked, tidy and sanitary  – Record and report maintenance issues and follow up on repairs  – Follow procedures for safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals  – Assist with guest requests and communicate them to management  – Respect guest privacy and report any damaged or lost items
** What We’re Looking For**– Grade 12 (advantageous)  – Minimum 6 months’ experience in a similar role (advantageous)  – Ability to operate cleaning equipment and follow cleaning procedures  – Strong attention to detail and physical stamina  – Dependable, adaptable and guest-focused  – Honest, respectful and able to communicate effectively with management  – Team player with a willingness to work overtime when required
