Phlebotomist / Lab Technician Job Purpose
The Phlebotomist / Lab Technician is responsible for performing phlebotomy, processing laboratory specimens, and assisting with in‑house testing while ensuring accuracy, patient safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role supports laboratory operations and collaborates closely with providers and clinical staff to deliver high‑quality patient care.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to obtain blood specimens from patients of all ages
- Ensure proper patient identification and accurate specimen labeling
- Process laboratory specimens including receiving, identifying, accessioning, sorting, centrifuging, and preparing samples for in‑house testing or referral laboratories
- Assist with waived and moderate complexity testing as permitted by training and certification
- Operate laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, Piccolo, Coagu Chek INR, Clinitek Status Plus, Sysmex XN‑550, Qualigen Fast Pack, and other waived testing devices in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory guidelines
- Prepare and package specimens for shipment to reference laboratories according to established standards
- Maintain compliance with CLIA regulations and all local, state, and federal laboratory standards
- Perform routine maintenance and quality control procedures on laboratory equipment as required
- Follow universal precautions and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous materials
- Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff regarding specimen requirements, test preparation, and turnaround times
- Perform data entry and clerical duties related to laboratory services
- Monitor and order laboratory supplies as needed
- Ensure all laboratory procedures are performed according to established standards of care

Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Benefits:

- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Completion of Phlebotomy or Laboratory Assistant training program (Required)
- 1+ year of clinical laboratory or phlebotomy experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and patient care skills
- Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and CLIA regulations
