PRN Respiratory Therapist, CRT, RRT

Overview

To provide quality patient care and improve quality of life.

Perform procedures within the scope and conduct of patient care for the Respiratory Care Department under the guidance of a designated staff physician.

• Provide respiratory therapy as outlined in the Respiratory Care Department Policy and Procedures.
• Perform diagnostic tests and treatments in outpatient which include:
  • PFT & Spirometry
  • Stress Tests & EKG’s
  • Suctioning
  • Breathing treatments
  • Holter Monitors
  • ABG’s
  • Six Minute Walks
  • Overnight Oximetry Set‑Up
• Setup, operate, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment.
• Educate patients and families regarding respiratory therapy.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisors.
• Optional:
  Take call and standby if picking up a floor shift.

• Associate must be familiar with relevant laws and regulations concerning participation in federal health care programs.
• Ensure all departmental activities, especially those relating to claim development and submission, are conducted in full compliance with federal and state laws.
• Participate in educational programs concerning legal compliance issues.
• Seek advice and guidance from appropriate members of management concerning any legal compliance questions.
• Report any suspected incident of noncompliance utilizing available reporting mechanisms.
• Cooperate fully with any investigation relating to any suspected incident of noncompliance.

Graduate of AMA‑approved Respiratory Therapy program, passed National Registry Board, or current RT student with checklist from AMA‑approved school. Must be licensed with Kansas State Board of Healing Arts as a Respiratory Therapist or Student Respiratory Therapist. Must have BLS. ACLS and NRP certification strongly encouraged for those picking up acute floor shifts and taking call.

Ability to work with all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).

This is a non‑exempt PRN position. Hours fluctuate based on needs. Punctual attendance is required for scheduled shifts.

Occasional sitting, frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting/carrying 10-15 pounds, frequent reaching/grasping, twisting, pulling/pushing, occasional exposure to sharp instruments, frequent exposure to equipment. Writing in English and regularly utilizing computers.
