Provides basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport at the AEMT level.

The work is often performed while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and could be performed while carrying additional equipment. The work is typically performed in an office, outdoors, and at the scenes of emergency events. Employee may be exposed to fire, smoke, noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases or pathogens, irritating chemicals and weather extremes.
PPE items include goggles, masks, gloves, and all other protective clothing required for EMS operations.

Responsible for overall patient care as an AEMT when he/she is the single AEMT on a scene and in transport. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Requirements Essential Functions (required)Required Credential(s):
- HS or Equivalent/Diploma/GED
- Associate degree (preferred)
- National Registry (preferred)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course completion card from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire or job transfer date.
- BLS Healthcare Provider course completion card from the American Heart Association is required within 45 days of hire or job transfer date.
- Driver License from the state of Kansas or Valid Driver's License.
- Haz Waste Ops Em Resp Cert - Hazardous Materials Awareness Level training required within 1 year of hire (preferred).
- Licensed as an AEMT by the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (KSBEMS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) or Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals (PEPP) certification or equivalent required within 12 months of hire.
- Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Course equivalent to the National Association of EMT’s EMS Vehicle Operator Safety Course.
