CNA​/Paraeducator - Special Education; MES

This job was posted by Kansas Works. For more information, see:  Maize Elementary has an immediate opening for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to work with students in our Structured Learning program.

Staff working in Structured Learning (SL) classrooms assist students who need intensive support and predictable, consistent routines throughout the school day. Many of these students are on the autism spectrum. The educational focus is on language, communication, social skills, self‑help, sensory integration, and academic skills. Some form of toileting is very common for all ages. All health and safety precautions are followed.

• School schedule: prac work when students are in session along with a couple of additional days.
• Holidays off: a week at Thanksgiving, two weeks around Christmas, and Spring Break.
• Paid leave: 12 sick days and 4 personal days a year.
• Benefits: working more than 25 hours per week makes you eligible for subsidized health benefits along with a variety of other benefits.
• Retirement: employees working more than 630 hours a year participate in the KPERS retirement plan.

• Pass a background check.
• Have a current TB test.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certificate REQUIRED.
• Complete 48 college credits OR have an associate’s degree OR pass a State approved assessment Preferred.
• Are strong team players.
• Possess basic computer and math skills.
• Must enjoy a fast pace environment.
• Can spend 80% of the day standing and 20% walking. Activities include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using finger dexterity.
• Maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality.
