Position SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated, flexible, and student-centered Science Teacher (Grades 7–12) to join our close-knit school community. The primary responsibility of this position will be teaching middle school science, with potential additional science courses at the high school level as needed. This position is ideal for an educator who values strong relationships, hands‑on learning, and collaboration in a small‑school environment.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Teach middle school science courses aligned with state standards
- Support additional science instruction for grades 9–12 as assigned
- Develop engaging, hands‑on, and inquiry‑based science lessons
- Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback
- Collaborate closely with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration
- Integrate cross‑curricular connections when appropriate
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Participate in school events, professional development, and committee work
- Valid state teaching license with appropriate science endorsement (7–12)
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to teach a range of learners in a small‑school setting
- Willingness to be flexible and contribute beyond the classroom
- Commitment to building positive relationships with students and families
- Experience teaching middle school science
- Experience in a rural or small‑school environment
- Passion for hands‑on labs and project‑based learning
- Small class sizes and strong student–teacher relationships

Employer InformationOxford USD 358 is located in Sumner County, 9 miles from the Kansas Turnpike on highway 160 between Winfield and Wellington, just 40 minutes south of Wichita. The district encompasses 136 square miles and includes the towns of Gueda Springs and Oxford. District enrollment is approximately 400 students. Oxford Elementary School houses grades Prk-6, Oxford JH/HS has grades 7-12. The district also has a virtual school, Oxford Online, for students in grades 3-12 with an average enrollment of 55 students.
Special education services are provided through the 619 interlocal based in Wellington. The district has a strong focus on STEAM, CTE, and project based learning. The 1A high school offers a variety of programs for students including major sports, FFA, NHS, KAY, and Student Council. High School students have dual credit opportunities with area post-secondary institutions. Our families and community support our schools and students second to none.
USD 358 just completed a Bond Project which is added additional classrooms, FEMA storm shelters, and remodeled the Fine Arts and Career and Technical Education building.
We have a 1‑1 iPad implementation K‑12, Mac Books and iPads for all teachers. Smart TVs with Apple TVs are in all classrooms. USD 358 has a school run daycare for the staff.
