Job Title:
Speech, Debate/Forensics Instructor (9-12)
Purpose: Instruct and assist the students in developing their communication skills to their maximum; to serve as a role model for students; develop the student in both the cognitive and affective domain; assist the student in developing an appreciation for and understanding the value of communication skills.
Qualifications- Current Kansas Teaching Certificate in Speech
- Current TB skin test and physical.
- Ability to work with students and fellow staff.
- Ability to develop and meet goals for students.
- Knowledge of current trends in the field.
Physical Requirements /Environmental Conditions General responsibilities
- Maintain and develop proper learning atmosphere in classroom and school.
- Develop and implement goals for class.
- Develop lesson plans and evaluation techniques of student progress.
- Report student progress to office and student/parents.
- Maintain room and equipment inventory.
- Set example of proper attitude and behavior for students.
- Comply with administrative requests.
- Keep an accurate account of student attendance and grades.
- Provide the students with career information.
- Incorporate into the program speakers and field trips as needed.
- Supervise students in/out classroom activities, including extracurricular activities.
- Work with students to fully develop communication expertise.
- Work with fellow faculty to develop and maintain an effective learning environment.
- Works with administration to maintain and improve the speech department and the school.
- Work with students to gain their support and assistance in school endeavors.
- Willingness and flexibility to adopt new teaching strategies into their classroom.
- Prepare students for local, state, and national summative assessments.
Term of Employment: As per negotiated teacher agreement
Payment Rate: According to Certified Salary Schedule
Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy of Certified Personnel.
