USD 492 Flint hills is currently seeking applications for a Music Teacher position, specializing in vocal music and instrumental band, potentially for all grades or a combination.

Additionally, there are two supplemental positions that are attached. Vocal/Instrumental Music is paid at 4% of the Base, and Pep Band is paid at 4% of the Base.

SUPERVISES:
Students, teacher aides, and volunteers as assigned

To help students master subject matter specified by the district's curriculum guides, to help students demonstrate that mastery as it relates to defined curriculum outcomes, and to assist students in their development towards mature, able, and responsible citizens.

• Plans a program of study that follows district guidelines, and, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Guides the learning process toward the mastery of curriculum goals, and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects that are clearly communicated to students.
• Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting the district’s published objectives.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required by policy and as requested by the administration.
• Directly supervises all students to whom he/she is assigned. Supervises students in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to which he/she is employed or assigned to sponsor. Assumes supervision responsibilities as directed by the principal.
• Assists in the referral and diagnoses of students with learning diffiÂculties, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.
• Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis, and as requested by the administration.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing students` life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Observes all policies, rules, and regulations of the board as stated in the policy handbook, faculty handbooks, and student handbooks.
• Observes established duty hours of the school day.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteers(s) and evaluates their job performance.
• Maintains and strives to improve professional performance and competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
• Follows the appropriate procedures for ordering supplies, materials, and expensing from activity accounts.
• Facilitate cooperation between all persons in the school community.
• Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
• Support the mission of the school district.
• Other duties assigned by the administration.

Flint hills USD 492 includes schools in the communities of Rosalia and Cassoday. Located east of El Dorado in eastern Butler County, the school is a progressive 1A school district with total enrollment of just under 300 students. The district has a PreK-2 building located in Cassoday while grades 3-12 attend school in buildings located in Rosalia.

District facilities were renovated and added in 2020-21 as result of a bond issue. These improvements included: purchase of 10 acres; roofs; exterior doors and windows at the 3-12 Building; carpet district wide; an Ag building; 8-lane track; baseball/softball complex; tech addition for small engine repair; bus maintenance building; bus barn; seating, and lighting and audio systems in the auditorium; and interactive gym floors at both buildings.

The district also completed interior facelifts by painting hallways, classrooms, and lockers. The district was also able to make improvements with SPARK grant money due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
