Location: Lyons

Job Title: Physical Education/Health Instructor (6-9)

Purpose: Successfully guide, teach and monitor the students’ progress through a program designed to give the students a basic working knowledge and appreciation of proper physical education and health; to serve as a role model for students; develop students in both the cognitive and affective domains; to help students develop an appreciation and understanding of healthful living.

Qualifications
  • Current Kansas teaching certificate
  • Knowledge and understanding of the concepts and philosophies of proper physical education and health.
  • Keep current in the trends and practices in the field.
Essential Functions
  • Teach basics of the material outlined in the curriculum guide regarding department offerings.
  • Guide students in the development and refinement of old and new talents relating to the subject.
  • Monitor student progress and improvement toward basic departmental goals.
  • Imbibe into student working appreciation for physical education and lifetime activities, all other responsibilities set forth by the Board of Education.
  • Keep accurate attendance and grades.
  • Develop goals and objectives for each class.
  • Provide speakers and field trips of worth for class.
  • Provide career information to students.
  • Supervise students in a non-classroom setting.
  • Proper working relationship with principal and other faculty in regard to the importance of physical education.
  • Working relationship to staff members regarding use and time use of certain areas and equipment; be cooperative and develop mutual respect.
  • Working relationship with students’ in regard to the material presented to them; open two-way communication.
  • Keep parents and the public informed of the activities and goals of the program.
  • Willingness and flexibility to adopt new teaching strategies into their classroom.
  • Prepare students for local, state, and national summative assessments.
Physical Requirements /Environmental Conditions

Term of Employment: As per negotiated teacher agreement

Payment Rate: According to Certified Salary Schedule

Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy of Certified Personnel.
