Career Specialist - Shawnee Heights High School
We are looking to hire a full-time Career Specialist for Shawnee Heights High School in Tecumseh, Kansas. The ideal candidate will be passionate about student success, enjoy teaching young people, and help students overcome obstacles to graduation while preparing them for career and college pathways.
Pay Range: $45,835.00/yr - $45,835.00/yr

Work Schedule: Full‑time Monday through Friday during the school year with flexibility during the summer.
About JAG‑K: JAG‑K partners with Kansas schools to support students facing challenges. We offer an elective class that helps students earn their high school diploma and prepares them for post‑secondary education, military service, or the workforce.
A Day in the Life of a Career Specialist:
- Identify, recruit, and educate students who struggle between themselves and graduation.
- Facilitate transitions from school to college, military, or career pathways using the JAG model.
- Develop positive relationships with 35‑60 students through project‑based learning, trauma‑informed care, and employer engagement.
- Conduct student conferences focused on career, civic, social, and service‑learning opportunities.
- Provide value‑added instruction, support, and advocacy to graduates and non‑graduates, including follow‑up services.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in technology use.
