Dates: June 8 – July 31, 2025 (No camp on June 19, July 3 or July

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
The Solon Recreation Department is seeking responsible, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to serve as Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR) Explorer Camp Counselors. AIR Explorer Camp provides an inclusive summer experience where campers participate alongside their typically developing peers in daily camp activities. Counselors support children with special needs by fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive environment while leading and adapting activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, park visits, field trips and recreational programming to meet individual needs.
Counselors will collaborate with AIR Staff to modify activities as needed and serve as positive role models by demonstrating professionalism, appropriate behavior, and adherence to camp procedures and safety protocols. They are responsible for maintaining active supervision at all times and supporting a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment. Counselors must participate in all camp activities. A strong interest in working with children, particularly those with special needs, is essential.
Previous experience in camp, childcare, or a related field is preferred but not required. Counselors must be committed to fostering a supportive and meaningful summer experience for every camper.
Candidates with experience or education in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be given hiring preference. CPR certification is a plus.
This is a seasonal position with hours not to exceed 40 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary by camp session based on enrollment. The starting wage is $18.00 per hour, with the potential for a higher rate depending on the assigned role and responsibilities.
