Job DescriptionThe following responsibilities describe the interim leadership and operational support for the UMKC Counseling Center, in collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs. Duties include clinical oversight, service continuity, collaboration with campus partners, and participation in assessment and planning.
- Counseling Center Oversight — Provide interim leadership and day-to-day operational support for the UMKC Counseling Center in collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs.
- Support continuity of services, ensuring counseling operations remain aligned with university policies, ethical standards, and best practices.
- Serve as a consultation resource for Counseling Center staff regarding clinical concerns, case management, and crisis response.
- Assist with review and coordination of clinical protocols, referral processes, and documentation practices.
- Support communication and coordination between the Counseling Center, Student Affairs leadership, and campus partners as needed.
- Participate in assessment and reporting efforts related to service utilization, trends, and emerging student mental health needs.
- Clinical Support to the University Health Center — Provide direct clinical services to students through the University Health Center as needed.
- Crisis Response & Consultation — Participate in crisis response efforts, including consultation on students of concern, behavioral intervention processes, and urgent mental health situations.
- Collaborate with campus partners (Dean of Students, Residential Life, Campus Safety, etc.) to support student well-being and safety.
- Administrative & Collaborative Duties — Maintain appropriate clinical documentation in accordance with legal, ethical, and university standards.
- Attend relevant meetings related to counseling and student support as needed.
- Contribute to short-term planning, process improvement, and stabilization efforts during the interim period.
- MSN Nursing — ability to provide direct clinical services to students.
- Experience with oversight of a Counseling Center in a higher education setting.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is up to $90.00 per hour. Salary is determined by factors including education, skills, experience, and organizational requirements.
