Overview
NVE is looking for a General Maintenance Worker with at least four (4) years of experience, who is interested in troubleshooting and learning the trades alongside other skilled licensed mechanics and electricians. The maintenance mechanic is responsible for maintenance, responding to service requests, and making minor repairs on buildings and equipment. Performs various general building maintenance functions in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled craft trades to support carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and other facility support tasks.
Has the ability to plan, lay-out and complete installations, modifications, and repairs, in addition to being responsible for instructing other personnel in general mechanic positions.
Major Duties:
Minor building maintenance tasks which must be performed to proficiency are listed herein by example, but they are not limited to the following:
- Makes minor adjustments and re-pairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sewage systems; architectural and structural building components; interior and exterior entrance doors; all door locks, windows, floors systems, roof systems, roof gutters, downspouts, window and floor coverings.
- Performs minor painting chores consistent with preventive maintenance functions and minor repairs.
- Performs minor preventive maintenance functions which include but are not limited to:
Changing filters; cleaning cooling towers, heating and cooling coils; cleaning floor drains, grease traps, roof gutters, down-spouts; and changing fluorescent tubes and other light bulbs where needed. - Performs miscellaneous functions which include but are not limited to: remove and install signs and picture frames; assist in relocating furniture and computers; and performs other similar duties.
- Responsible for maintaining, responding to service request, as needed under guidance of the PM, Chief Engineer, or Supervisor.
- Complies with established safety guidelines and procedures.
- Support other building operations as needed.
- Understand written and oral instructions to perform the required work
- General building maintenance knowledge in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled craft trades to support mechanical and electrical heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning machinery
- Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions.
- Perform emergency repairs and available for after hour and weekend repairs
- Operate a forklift or man lift, as needed
- Work effectively with the customer, building tenants and other team members
- Ability to troubleshoot, complete work order assigned in a timely matter
- Ability to read Architectural and Manufacturing blueprints and generate design concepts using available tools.
- Capable with basic office equipment to include cell phone, tablet, telephone, fax and copy scanner.
- High School or Equivalent (at a minimum)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- OSHA 30 desired
- An existing HSPD-12 Determination for Work Desired

This is a Union Position with Local 101 with compensation adjustments on February 1st of each year.
