Summary

A 2-3 year, 4000 to 6000-hour apprenticeship in the wood flooring trade. You will be working with a Crew Leader to refinish, restore & install hardwood flooring in the Kansas City area. Training in all areas of the hardwood flooring trade will be provided. You will be required to complete both online and hands-on training to show proficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Engage in NWFA online university to complete courses.
  • Engage in hands-on training and testing as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Work with the Operations Manager and Crew Leaders to perform tasks as directed.
  • Ensure assigned jobs are completed according to company standards.
  • Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
  • Safely operate power tools including but not limited to table saws, miter saws, table and hand planers, nailers and drills, and sanding equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times by sweeping, cleaning, and removing trash as directed.
  • Cautiously work with tools, equipment, and materials at all times.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, giving special attention to safety regulations.
  • Work effectively with others and take direction as necessary.
  • Drive to specified sites to conduct appropriate work functions.
  • Lift and carry tools to perform duties.

    Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 175 pounds.
  • The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Education/Experience

    High-school diploma or the equivalent.

    Environmental Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes, or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risks of electrical shock.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

    Compensation
    • 30-day training and a probationary period before the first raise and official hire date.
    • 30-day trial- $18/hr
    • Field Tech: $20-24 ( $2 raise at the time promoted to crew leader)
    • Regular annual performance raises

    With completion of apprenticeship advancement and earning potential up to 80k per year.
