Position Summary
Work involves monitoring and patrolling campus and its facilities. Assists with parking, performing inspections of closed buildings, and opening and closing areas used by faculty, staff, students and visitors.
Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions- Conduct personal escorts and provide transportation for students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors, primarily using a department vehicle.
- Enforce State and KUMC parking rules through issuance of citations, verbal, or written warnings.
- Enforce parking garage access and advise supervisor of required signage.
- Assist hospital staff to meet customer needs by directing and controlling traffic flow and providing assistance.
- Patrol areas of responsibility, including metal detector and entrance monitoring; address unusual activities.
- Assist employees, students, staff, and visitors with jump starts and tire inflation where required.
- Attend departmental assignments and training sessions as assigned.
- Operate two‑way radio equipment per FCC regulations and departmental policy; write reports.
- Maintain uniforms, vehicle, and equipment clean; report damage.
- Perform professional, clinical, or technical competencies of assigned unit or department.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or GED.
- 1+ year of experience in customer service.
- 1+ year of experience with computers.

- 3+ years of experience in Healthcare Security work.
- 3+ years of experience maintaining relationships with public, staff, and officials.
- Valid, unrestricted driver's license (corrective lenses acceptable).
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently within guidelines.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
- Computer literacy.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nighttime, holiday, and weekend.
