We are recruiting a Sales Director for our client in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. Our client is in the women's fashion industry. We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead their national account strategy, grow their existing wholesale business, and drive growth. This role will require a merchant's eye, a builder's mindset, and a leadership abilities to drive both performance and process.
This role is based in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. There will be travel to buyer meetings and in-person account support within this role.
Responsibilities- National Account Ownership: Take full responsibility for managing key national accounts. Work directly with multiple buyers across programs to ensure alignment, timely execution, and continued growth.
- New Business Development: Leverage existing relationships with key retailers and identify new opportunities. Target and secure high-value accounts that align with product categories (apparel, accessories, jewelry, sleepwear).
- Process & Structure: Create and implement a structured approach to sales operations, including timeline management, buyer communication, appointment scheduling, internal coordination, and follow-up.
- Team Development: Build and lead an internal sales team when the time is right. Serve as the primary contact and strategist until that infrastructure is in place.
- Merchant-Driven Selling: Act as a consultant to our retail partners—this is about more than just selling. Bring a merchant mindset, and help buyers identify assortment gaps and opportunities in-store.
- Proven experience managing and growing major national retail accounts
- Existing relationships with key buyers in relevant categories (apparel, accessories, lifestyle, or general merchandise)
- Strong understanding of retailer operations, timelines, and internal buying structures
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and follow-through
- Analytical mindset with the ability to track and respond to sales performance
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills—able to influence and align internal teams across product, creative, and sales
- Experience with line development and a feel for brand presentation
- Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and self-motivated
