Overview

We are seeking a Sales Manager with at least 3 years of experience in the food industry, specifically selling to or working with food processors, producers, and other organizations required to conduct testing per USDA and/or FDA guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong rolodex of contacts and a proven track record of selling products directly to customers for use at their facilities or selling services such as laboratory testing.

As the Sales Manager, you will drive sales growth, develop and execute sales strategies, and build strong, lasting relationships with clients. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and the ability to close deals effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales Strategy Development:
    Work with management team to develop and implement effective sales strategies to target and acquire new clients within the food processing, production, and retail sectors.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, ensuring their testing needs are met with exceptional service and the highest standards of quality.
  • Direct Sales Execution:
    Lead the full sales cycle, from prospecting and lead generation to closing deals, with a strong emphasis on selling products and services directly to customers for use at their facilities.
  • Market Analysis:
    Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and client needs to effectively position our products and services in the market.
  • Achieve Sales Targets:
    Meet and exceed sales targets and revenue goals through strategic planning and tactical execution, with a focus on high reward through our commission structure.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with the marketing, technical, and customer support teams to ensure a seamless experience for the client from sales to delivery.
  • Reporting:
    Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management, offering insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in the food industry, with a focus on selling to food processors, producers, and other organizations in the agriculture supply chain.
  • Strong rolodex of industry contacts, particularly within the food processing, production, and retail sectors.
  • Proven track record of successful direct sales to customers for use at their facilities, or in selling services like laboratory testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets, with a history of closing deals.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with clients at all levels.
  • Understanding of USDA FSIS regulations and the food testing landscape.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of accountability and initiative.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients and attend industry events.
Compensation
  • Base salary of 50,000 - 75,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Highly incentivized commission structure, with negotiable percentages based on sales generated.
