Key Responsibilities
  • Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions quickly, assist with gaming needs, inform about promotions, recommend items, apply selling behaviors, thank guests, and prioritize guests over tasks.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS computer system, issue receipts, and maintain top‑notch service.
  • Respond to guest comments or phone calls promptly and professionally; elevate issues to the Store Manager as needed.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade‑in, and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations, training associates, and ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Observe associate performance, provide feedback to the Store Manager, address unsatisfactory performance, and manage recognition.
  • Ensure all associates complete onboarding, training, and compliance before working shifts.
  • Schedule associates per guidelines, manage staffing levels for optimal service, and maintain best‑in‑class service.
  • Approve payroll, manage paid time off, verify time worked, and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, equipment functionality, and merchandising per guidelines.
  • Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
  • Protect company assets through inventory control, loss prevention, and bank deposits; inspect packages and communicate concerns.
  • Support store goals and complete administrative and operational duties.
  • Perform inventory counts, restock shelves, move products to the front, and keep the space organized.
  • Count, balance, reconcile daily totals accurately in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and deposits.
  • Verify shipments, record discrepancies, conduct inventories, and communicate to management.
  • Process defectives/recalls accurately and promptly, labeling boxes and including packing lists.
  • Maintain associate and guest safety, address hazards, and report injuries promptly.
  • Assist in maintaining store records/files and ensuring manuals are current.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to all Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Minimum 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
