Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position that requires a MO or compact license and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities
  • Position is in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes cardiac, neuro stepdown, ER holding, and post-surgical cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Weekend requirement of 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (combination of Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Floating may be required to all medical-surgical and inpatient holding units, including covering multiple departments
  • No block scheduling available
  • No on-call requirement
  • May be assigned charge nurse responsibilities and holiday shifts as needed
  • RTO (time off) maximum is 7 days per contract
  • Pre-employment drug screening is required; diluted or positive results may lead to assignment cancellation and a 6-month wait before reapplying
  • Orientation modules averaging 5-8 hours must be completed prior to start and annually thereafter
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No travel partners accepted for this assignment
Requirements
  • Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience in PCU/stepdown setting required, including at least 1 full year within the past 12 months
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Proficiency with telemetry and cardiac monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience required in the following: MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, post-cardiac and neuro care, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC management, wound care, and respiratory interventions
  • Must be comfortable with rapid response and non-invasive airway management
  • Two professional references from the past year, including one supervisor and one charge RN, required for consideration
  • Pending licenses not accepted
  • Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
