North Kansas City Hospital Orthopedic/Med‑Surg Trauma Unit offers a dynamic and supportive environment where you can make a real difference. With cutting‑edge procedures, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to excellence, we provide ample opportunities for professional growth. The unit performs 80-100 elective procedures weekly—including total hip and knee replacements, spinal fusions, discectomies, shoulder replacements, and more—while caring for trauma patients in their med/surg recovery phase.
We hold Advanced Certification in Total Hip and Knee Joint Replacement through The Joint Commission and are actively pursuing Advanced Certification for Spine Surgery. Nurses work directly with over 40 orthopedic surgeons and their residents, playing an integral role in shaping patient care plans and policies.
- Provide competent holistic care to patients and families under the direction of the Nurse Director, Patient Care Supervisor, or Charge Nurse.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, residents, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Support patients undergoing a high volume of elective and trauma procedures per week.
- Experience: One year medical/surgical experience preferred.
- Special skills: One year orthopedic nursing experience preferred.
- Other: Basic computer skills.
- License/Cred: RN (Registered Nurse) State of Missouri, BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA.
- Education: Required:
Associates – Nursing. Preferred:
Bachelors – Nursing.
- Supportive Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratios: 1:5 on days, 1:6 on nights.
- Advanced Certification in Total Hip and Knee Joint Replacement through The Joint Commission; pursuing Advanced Certification for Spine Surgery.
