Overview

Join a 585+ bed Level I Trauma Center in Kansas City, Missouri, offering comprehensive medical and surgical services across specialty units including Neuro, Ortho, and Nephrology. This Medical-Surgical RN role provides the opportunity to care for a diverse adult patient population with medical, surgical, cardiac, and neurologic conditions in a 49-bed unit with 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratios. The facility is a regional destination for cardiovascular care, stroke treatment, emergency services, and trauma, serving one of the Midwest's most vibrant metropolitan areas.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding patient health status, following evidence-based standards of care and disease-specific protocols.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans to optimize clinical outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Provide direct nursing care for post-surgical patients including general surgery, urology, vascular, neuro, ortho, and nephrology cases.
  • Monitor stable trauma patients and manage care for higher-acuity medical-surgical patients in a Level I Trauma environment.
  • Supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN scope of practice and in accordance with established hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, case managers, and support staff to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Provide patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and clinical circumstances throughout the care continuum.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely in electronic health records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Respond to changing patient conditions with clinical judgment, critical thinking, and appropriate interventions.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current Missouri RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience (does not need to be recent)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work rotating weekends and provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Experience in trauma, neuro, ortho, or nephrology nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Hourly Pay: $30.04-$41.50 based on years of experience
  • Sign-On Bonus: $30,000 for night shift (2-year commitment) | $10,000 for day shift (2-year commitment)
