Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an inpatient hospital setting requiring a MO or compact RN license and strong oncology background.

Responsibilities

• Work in the oncology unit of a tertiary care hospital with Level 1 Trauma and Magnet recognition

• Primary oncology unit treats all types and phases of cancer care, including chemo administration and post-op populations

• Provides care to uro-gyn and gyn-onc surgical patients, as well as step-down neuro overflow including strokes and neurological needs

• Patient ratio is typically 1:5

• Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 6:45 to 19:15

• Weekend requirement is 8 shifts per 6-week schedule, including a mix of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

• Floating is required between departments, units, and facilities within scope

• Uses Epic charting system

• Role includes administering chemotherapy, managing ports and central lines, and providing symptom management and psychosocial care

• Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage as needed

• First-time travelers are accepted

• Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility; locals not accepted

• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed

• Free parking provided

• Testing and annual education modules required as part of onboarding

• No travel partners accepted on this contract

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration

• Minimum of 2 years recent oncology nursing experience required, with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year

• Must have one full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months

• Current BLS certification required

• Experience with IV therapy, infusions, central line care, and administration of oncology medications required

• Skills in handling oncologic emergencies, pain management, wound care, and telemetry monitoring required

• Must provide 2 recent professional references, including one supervisor-level reference and one charge RN reference, both from the last year

• Willingness to float between units and facilities as needed
