Summary
Patient acuity ranges from those transitioning to lower levels of care to critically ill open‑heart surgical patients. You’ll manage complex equipment and respond to technical challenges with precision. Our CVICU is at the forefront of cardiovascular medicine, treating a broad spectrum of conditions and performing advanced procedures, including:
- Open‑heart surgeries (e.g., aortic and mitral valve surgeries, abdominal aortic aneurysm surgeries)
- Management of intra‑aortic balloon pumps and continuous renal replacement therapy
- Thoracotomies, thoracoscopy, and more

Under the direction of the Nurse Director/charge nurse, patients and families are provided competent holistic care based on nursing process.
ExperienceOne year medical/surgical experience; one year ICU. Experienced nurses must have ACLS upon hire, graduate nurses and nurses new to Critical Care must attain ACLS within 12 months of hire/transition.
OtherBasic computer skills.
License & CertificationRequired:
BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association), RN (Registered Nurse) State of Missouri, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association) within 1 year of hire.
Preferred: CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse).
EducationRequired:
Associate’s - Nursing.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s - Nursing.
