Job Details
• Work in an inpatient oncology unit within a tertiary care, teaching, Level 1 trauma hospital,
• Primary oncology unit treating all cancer types in all phases, with additional step-down neuro overflow for neurological patients,
• Patient ratios are 1:5,
• Responsibilities include administration of inpatient chemotherapy regimens and post-op uro-gyn and gyn-onc surgical care,
• Day shift schedule is 3 x 12 hour shifts (06:45-19:15),
• Required to work 8 weekend shifts per 6 week scheduling period, including combinations of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays,
• Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required,
• EMR system used is Epic; prior Epic experience preferred but not required,
• No on-call responsibilities,
Job Requirements
• Active MO or compact state RN license in hand at time of consideration,
• Minimum 2 years of recent oncology nursing experience with no employment gap over 90 days in the past year,
• BLS certification required,
• IV therapy/infusion, blood product administration, care and management of ports and central lines required,
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and post-surgical care required,
• Prior charge RN or teaching hospital experience is preferred,
• Willingness to float between departments and facilities is required,
• Two professional references required from experience within the past year, one must be from a supervisor or above,
• Accepts first-time travelers,
• License pending applicants accepted if license is in hand before start,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include managing oncologic emergencies, advanced directives education, symptom management, and patient/family support,
• Unit also cares for step-down neuro patients such as strokes and head bleeds,
• Completion of required hospital modules prior to start and annually thereafter,
• No travel partners permitted on the assignment,
• Free parking provided,
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted,
• No more than 7 days of requested time off permitted,
• Holiday shift coverage and charge RN assignments required as needed,
