OverviewChildren's Mercy orthopedic specialists provide a broad range of trauma, hand, musculoskeletal, sports medicine and general orthopedic services for children of all ages. Together with physical and occupational therapists, advanced practice providers, and other experienced staff members, our pediatric orthopedic surgeons care for children with all types of bone, joint, spine and other conditions.
Conditions- Alignment issues (bowlegs, knock knees, in-toeing, etc.)
- Bones & joint trauma, fractures, infections of bone and joint
- Bone disorders, bone and soft tissue tumors
- Clubfoot, flat feet, ankle and foot conditions
- Cerebral Palsy, hip conditions, hip and joint diseases
- Kyphosis, scoliosis, spinal and leg length discrepancies
- Hand anomalies, joint replacement
- Sports injuries, other orthopedic conditions
- Spina bifida
Registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require care. Registered staff nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care for their assigned patients. Registered staff nurses provide patient and family education and advocate for their needs. Registered nurses coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

- Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
- Associate's Degree ADN Required.
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
