The Production Supervisor in the manufacturing sector plays a critical role in overseeing and managing the vehicle body fabrication process to ensure efficient, high-quality production output. This position is responsible for coordinating daily operations on the production floor, ensuring that all fabrication activities meet safety standards and production schedules. The supervisor will lead a team of fabricators and technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance management to optimize productivity and maintain quality control.
They will also collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance departments to troubleshoot issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Ultimately, the Production Supervisor ensures that vehicle body fabrication processes align with company goals, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations, driving operational excellence and timely delivery of products.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in manufacturing or vehicle body fabrication preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in vehicle body fabrication within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or team lead role in a production setting.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, tools, and safety standards related to vehicle body manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production documentation.
- Associate degree or higher in manufacturing technology, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Experience with computerized production management systems and quality control software.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and environmental compliance standards.
- Demonstrated success in implementing continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing environment.
- Supervise and coordinate daily vehicle body fabrication activities to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Manage and mentor production team members, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements on the production floor.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve fabrication issues and implement process improvements.
- Monitor production metrics and prepare reports to communicate progress and challenges to senior management.
- Maintain inventory levels of materials and coordinate with procurement to avoid production delays.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
The required skill of vehicle body fabrication is essential for understanding the technical aspects of the production process, enabling the supervisor to effectively guide the team and ensure quality standards are met. Strong leadership and communication skills are used daily to motivate staff, resolve conflicts, and coordinate cross-functional collaboration. Analytical skills help in monitoring production data, identifying bottlenecks, and driving process improvements.
