Welder/Fabricator

Successful applicant will conduct metal (primarily steel) fabrication and welding on a daily basis. The applicant will be responsible for various types of structural welding, including preparation, welding, and finishing operations. The applicant must be able to read, interpret, and understand detail design prints. The applicant must be in good physical condition and able to work in a steel fabrication shop environment daily.

The applicant must be a team player, able to interact well with others, and have a solid work ethic. The applicant may be required to work at remote job sites on occasion in rock or asphalt quarries or other industrial job sites and therefore must be able to interact with end customers, follow safety procedures and policies, and be willing to work long hours during the day to complete jobs in a timely manner so as to get end customers back operational.

• Works directly with plant manager, shop supervisor, customer, drafter, and peers to produce finished products
• Proficient in modern welding techniques and equipment
• Good working knowledge of wire and filler material applications for various steel alloys and aluminum
• Problem analysis and resolution
• Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
• Responds effectively to questions and inquiries concerning assembly and welding
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, welding practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete assembly and welding
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Must be familiar with product assembly and application
• Must have working knowledge of welding shop operations
• Must be highly organized, self-motivated, able to work independently and within teams
• Must have strong oral communication skills
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations
• Safety conscious with good housekeeping practices
• Able to work with minimum supervision and self-check for completeness and accuracy of work

The work environment is that of a steel fabrication shop. The shop may be cold or hot depending on outside conditions. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and noise levels from moderate to loud. Attendance and punctuality are essential.

Regular standing; frequent walking, handling, reaching; occasional squatting, bending, twisting, and working in a prone position. May involve lifting 10 to 75 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and focus adjustment.
