JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for working closely with production management to achieve various activities associated with assisting in running a production line. Responsible for ensuring machine staffing, line setup within all operational and safety specifications on multiple high-speed production equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in coordination under the direction of the Production Supervisor all aspects of the production process, including machine operation, material handling, and quality control.
  • Assist in monitoring production schedules and adjusting workflow per supervisor's directive.
  • Mentor production staff to assist in improvements for troubleshooting, running equipment as well as training needs.
  • Ensure adherence to production plans, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Identify & communicate opportunities for process optimization through continuous improvement methodologies to production management.
  • Collaborate with the production supervisor to troubleshoot equipment issues and preventive maintenance measures.
  • Reduce the amount of waste by following quality standards.
  • Maintain efficiency and record production output throughout the entire shift.
  • Continuously monitor the product during runs to ensure quality and adjust as necessary.
  • Knowledge and use of Corrplan, HRMS, and Maintain X.
  • Is the first level of questions and providing guidance for machine operators. Work together with crew/team in all assigned projects.
  • Monitor board quality, including - loose liner, warp, dimensions, caliper, and any other defects. Report any quality problems to the supervisor and sort as necessary to keep the machine running.
  • Partner with the Lead and/or Supervisor to cross-train.
  • Adheres to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals.
  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Operate production equipment to produce the highest level of production and quality.
  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
  • Clean at the end of the production runs.
  • Assist in the training of personnel.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Maximize piece-rate speed on tasks assigned.
  • Set up the machine accurately by proper setup techniques.
  • Ensure all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
  • Work at a pace set by the machine operator.
  • Willing to work on any part of the line of progression to the operator regardless of shift.
  • Helps operators adhere to production schedules. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to the Supervisor.
  • Read and follow instructions as provided by the supervisor.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Learn other job positions as necessary.
  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.
  • Turn in equipment work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
  • Attendance is an essential duty of the position.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent or combined education and experience.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated and transferable experience operating multiple manufacturing machinery at high speed in the corrugated, printing or related industry.
PREFERRED
  • Prior work experience in a corrugated manufacturing facility.
  • 2 years or more of proven ability to operate more than 3 of the following at an expert level:
    Eberle Winder, Design Winder, Pheonix Winder, Edge Guard, Optima, Tape Machine, Slitters, Appleton, Mark Andy Die Cutter, Aztek, Rewinder.
