Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated Envelope Machine Operator / Mechanic Trainee to operate, adjust, and maintain envelope folding machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is essential to maintaining product quality, maximizing machine efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement efforts. Training is provided for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities- Change the machine settings from one envelope style and size to another, minimizing downtime.
- Maintain the quality of the envelopes being produced, including folding, printing, gumming, latexing, and any other attachments.
- Ensure proper approvals for every job manufactured.
- Actively participate in and support lean manufacturing activities.
- Seek management guidance when quality is compromised for machine speed.
- Ensure the correct gum is used for each job, including seal gum, back gum, window gum, or any special gum required.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, changes, and maintenance performed.
- Monitor machine for wear and tears, reporting any issues to the department supervisor.
- Continuously review each job for potential process improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with operators, floor operators, and adjusters across shifts and departments.
- Complete scheduled maintenance and additional duties as assigned
Compensation: $18.00–$22.50 per hour, based on experience, plus a $1.50 per hour night shift differential
Shifts AvailableNight Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
- Week 1: 48 hours (Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday)
- Week 2: 36 hours (Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday)
- Mechanical aptitude preferred; prior experience is a plus but not required.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to read and follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous machine operation or mechanical experience is a plus but not required
- On-the-job training provided for motivated candidates
This role requires:
- Regular standing and frequent use of hands for handling materials and machine adjustments.
- Occasional walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
