This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the PositionServes as Lake Manager and Natural Resources Section Chief GS-0401-13 for a large geographical area, which includes major reservoir projects.
Duties- As Lake Manager and Chief of the Natural Resources Section, you will:
- Oversee the development of complex natural resource management programs; such as, fish and wildlife management, forestry management, fire protection, cultural resources protection, shoreline management and resolution of encroachments on public lands.
- Develops and implements cultural resource policy and management plans to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations
- Supervises the development and implementation of policy and management plans for the protection of rare, threatened, and endangered plant and animal species.
- Directs the development and implementation of the Shoreline Management Plan for regulation of facilities such as floating structures, water and electrical lines, steps, walkways, and other improvements by adjacent property owners.
- Administers agriculture leases, recreation leases, and determines availability of project lands and waters for out grant and disposal purposes.
- Directs surveillance of Project lands to prevent unauthorized encroachments, use, or trespass and to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations including 36 CFR 327.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with personnel of Federal, state, local, and tribal agencies to exchange ideas on methods, and development of mutual interest to coordinate work on adjoining lands, or to plan and coordinate joint projects.
- Coordinate and manage operation and maintenance of recreation facilities, including campground, picnic areas, boat launching ramps, marinas, historical sites, overlooks, and visitor/information center(s).
- Responsible for recruitment and supervision of full-time and seasonal personnel engaged in the management, operation, and maintenance of lands and water.
- Develops budget requirements for natural resource management programs for accomplishing scheduled work and inclusion in the overall fiscal program and reviews current budget to prevent deviations.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- One year probationary period may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A one year Supervisory probationary period is required unless previously completed.
- This position requires up to 25% temporary duty travel for training and in performance of duties.
