Accounting Manager

We’re seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role is key to driving financial accuracy, discipline, and efficiency as we scale the organization.
Position OverviewThe Controller will lead the accounting function, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies while partnering closely with operations leadership, project managers, and ownership stakeholders. - Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, job cost, A/R, A/P, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Manage all aspects of WIP (Work in Progress),
cost-to-complete
, and gross profit analysis
. - Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and the private equity team.
- Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and lender/PE reporting requirements.
- Implement process improvements to strengthen financial integrity and efficiency.
- Collaborate with project management and estimating teams to ensure accurate project financial reporting and forecasting.
- Support the executive team with financial analysis, dashboards, and KPIs.
- Provide insight into project performance, backlog, cash flow, and margin trends.
- Oversee ERP and accounting system (e.g., Sage Intacct, Miter, Build Ops, or similar).
- Lead system optimization projects and automate manual processes.
- Support integration of newly acquired accounting systems and processes.
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members (staff accountants, A/P, payroll, etc.).
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
. Construction accounting experience is preferred. - Experience in percentage-of-completion accounting

, and WIP schedules is preferred. - Proven capabilities to optimize accounting function through automation and technological tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft and ERP systems.
