Description

The Operations Supervisor has several key areas of responsibility. In general, his or her job is to ensure warehouse and production operations are carried out safely, accurately, and timely so that customers are satisfied. The Operations Supervisor will work closely with the Operations Manager to drive and engage with the team members to operate safely, with a strong adherence to quality standards, and be productive and efficient within their daily assigned tasks.

They will need to work closely with the sales team and logistics team members to ensure daily needs are met for the customer and the business.

Requirements

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that customer orders and warehouse transfers are picked, packed, and shipped on time and according to customer requirements and quality requirements.
  • Ensure that incoming inventory is checked in, inspected, and put away accurately, timely, and according to applicable quality requirements.
  • Ensure that cycle counts are conducted timely and accurately.
  • Investigate discrepancies to identify training issues and performance issues.
  • Train forklift drivers and monitor forklift operations for safety.
  • Train appropriate personnel for Haz Mat shipping and monitor certifications.
  • Maintain accuracy of unavailable inventory and customer returns by processing these transactions and communicating in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all the requirements contained in the Employee Handbook, Policy and Procedure Database, Quality Manual, and Quality Policies.
  • If the Operations Supervisor supervises a staff:
  • Recruit, select, and hire qualified candidates.
  • Develop, coach, and train the staff to provide excellent customer service through accuracy and timely completion of work and to complete their work safely.
  • Manage and coordinate the schedules and assignments of the staff to meet customer requirements efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor and approve time-keeping records for payroll purposes.
  • Conduct and document employee performance reviews when required and provide timely training and coaching at other times as appropriate.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other parts of the organization to achieve excellent customer service.
  • Assist staff in completing their work as required, including filling in where and when needed.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to ensure that work orders are completed promptly, accurately and shipped or delivered on time.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager with Preventive Maintenance, calibrations, Maintenance activities, and quality inspections.
  • Train and re-train employees in specific Job duties.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, and customers or vendors.
  • Learn and adhere to all Quality Procedures (QP’s), Policies and Procedures (PPD’s), and regulations in the GT Employee Handbook.
  • Have a current driver’s license to be able to operate any delivery vehicles.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Operations Supervisor must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. He or she communicates with all parts of the organization, including people for whom English is a second language and people of varied educational achievement. He or she also occasionally communicates directly with customers.

Operations Supervisor regularly use Microsoft Office products, GT’s ERP system, and GT’s warehouse management system, which includes RF scanners.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Operations Supervisor must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

OTHER SKILLS

The Operations Supervisor themselves must have a working knowledge of federal shipping regulations and OSHA regulations that apply to GT Midwest.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the Operations Supervisor is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Operations Supervisor also must be able to lift 60+ pounds. The Operations Supervisor frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit, all for extended periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Very high energy, oftentimes stressful or demanding deadlines and deliverables. Also, the work environment is not air-conditioned, so the Operations Supervisor is exposed to heat and sometimes cold for long periods of time.
