Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Manager
Classification: Exempt
Reports To: VP of Production
Position Type: Full Time
Work Schedule: M-F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job SummaryThe Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining programs that ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role focuses on compliance with environmental regulations, occupational health standards, and safety laws. The EHS Manager has a strong background in environmental health and safety regulations, particularly within the manufacturing industry. The EHS Manager collaborates with leadership, employees, and regulatory agencies to minimize risks and promote a culture of safety and sustainability.
EssentialFunctions
- Develop, implement and lead EHS programs to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- Implement and maintain EHS policies and procedures
- Provide guidance and recommendations to department and company leaders
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
- Provide training and development for employees on safety practices, emergency response, first aid, CPR, and occupational health
- Investigate workplace accidents and near-misses, maintain records and monitor trends.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, root cause analyses, and compliance metrics for management review
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT), and maintain up to date knowledge of all relevant areas
- Maintain accurate records and submit required reports to regulatory agencies
- Develop corrective actions and monitor trends for continuous improvement
- Oversee waste disposal, air emissions, and stormwater management
- Ensure proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials
- Conduct safety meetings and emergency drills
- Provide guidance on PPE usage, safety data sheets and workplace ergonomics
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills
- Act as a key contact during emergency situations
- Identify opportunities to enhance EHS programs
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication and leadership skills

May oversee EHS specialists or coordinators depending on organizational structure.
Combination of office and on-site facility work. PPE required on production and service floors (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes).
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products, tools, and supplies, up to 40 pounds.
Required Education/Experience/Certifications- Bachelor s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field
