Compliance Counsel - Life Insurance Company

A Family-Owned Life Insurance company is seeking an experienced attorney to join their Compliance team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing a wide variety of legal and compliance responsibilities, including federal insurance compliance, insurance product compliance, and more.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role offers high visibility across the business, working closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, and internal/regulatory compliance related matters. • Perform legislative reviews and monitoring of all laws and regulatory changes that impact compliance and procedures for the products and services.
• Advise senior leadership and various cross-functional teams on regulatory updates, ensure that the business s operations and products are compliant with relevant regulations, laws, legislation, etc.
• Assist marketing and product control in the evaluation of new products/ideas and identify regulatory and filing issues that may impact the programs.
• Provide legal support and assistance to marketing, product development, contracts department, and more.
• Monitor and communicate changes to policy form and rate filing requirements across various states, ensuring products are compliant with relevant regulatory requirements.

• 4+ Years of Compliance experience within the Insurance industry - strong preference for individuals familiar with the life and annuities space.
• Managerial experience is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a part of a team.
