In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Your role and responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, Debian, Slackware, Ubuntu), Windows Server, Solaris 9/10, and macOS environments across production, staging, and test systems.
- Ensure system performance, reliability, and scalability through proactive monitoring, tuning, and maintenance.
- Implement and manage configuration and version control processes using Git and SVN.
- Design and maintain monitoring solutions (Nagios, Zabbix, Ntop) and distributed backup/disaster recovery strategies.
- Manage and optimize relational and non-relational databases, including MySQL/Maria
DB, Postgre
SQL, Oracle, and Mongo
DB. - Administer Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) environments, including OpenSSL, RSA, CA, CRL management, and secure SSL/TLS connections.
- Deploy, configure, and support virtualization (Xen, KVM, VMWare, RHEV) and containerized environments (Docker, Open Shift, Kubernetes).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system security, compliance, and business continuity.
- Produce detailed documentation and maintain operational procedures for all supported environments.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and system optimization.

Required technical and professional expertise
- Proven experience in system administration across Unix/Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, Debian, Slackware, Ubuntu), Windows Server, Solaris, and macOS environments.
- Strong knowledge of system configuration, tuning, and maintenance in multi-environment setups (production, staging, testing).
- Hands-on experience with configuration management and version control tools (Git, SVN).
- Experience implementing monitoring and alerting systems (Nagios, Zabbix, Ntop) and managing backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Solid understanding of database administration (MySQL/Maria
DB, Postgre
SQL, Oracle, Mongo
DB). - Proficiency in PKI and security technologies, including OpenSSL, RSA, CA, CRL, and SSL/TLS certificate management.
- Working knowledge of virtualization and container platforms such as Xen, KVM, VMWare, RHEV, Docker, Open Shift, and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with a structured, documentation-oriented approach.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and high-availability environments.
- High attention to security, reliability, and business continuity best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Experience in designing and maintaining high-availability and scalable infrastructures.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible) to streamline system management and deployment.
