** Job Description Summary
** The Patterson Family Foundation, based in Kansas City, Missouri, is a family-led foundation that extends the legacy of Neal and Jeanne Patterson. The Foundation’s mission, “Working together to help rural communities thrive,” is carried forward through strategic grantmaking and other collaborative initiatives that serve rural counties across Kansas and western Missouri.
** Job Description
** The Impact Officer reports to the Chief Impact Officer and is responsible for building and sustaining organizational learning systems that enhances the effectiveness of grantmaking and strategy. This role ensures that insights from funded initiatives, internal analyses, and field trends are systematically captured, synthesized, and translated into actionable recommendations. The Impact Officer partners closely with the Chief Impact Officer (CIO), Business Intelligence (BI) team, program staff, and leadership to ensure that decision-making is evidence-informed, data-driven, and responsive to organizational priorities.
** Responsibilities
* * Strategic Learning & Knowledge Management
* Design and manage learning frameworks that align with organizational strategy and grantmaking priorities.
* Develop mechanisms to capture, analyze, and share insights across teams, partners, and stakeholders.
* Facilitate regular reflection cycles (after-action reviews, portfolio learning sessions, strategic convenings) to inform adaptive strategy.

Grantmaking Integration
* Partner with program officers to embed learning goals into grant strategies and reporting requirements.
* Review and analyze grantee reports, evaluations, and other knowledge products to identify themes and actionable insights.
* Support the design of grants with strong learning agendas, evaluation approaches, and field-building potential.

BI & Data Coordination
* Collaborate with the BI team to align data collection, dashboards, and reporting with learning objectives.
* Ensure that quantitative insights (dashboards, KPIs, portfolio data) and qualitative insights (evaluations, grantee feedback) are integrated.
* Translate BI analyses into narrative findings that inform program and strategy discussions.
* Serve as a bridge between program teams and BI staff to ensure data is applied to learning and decision-making.

Evaluation & Evidence Use
* Work with evaluation staff/consultants to align measurement efforts with strategic priorities.
* Translate complex evaluation findings into clear, actionable recommendations for program and strategy refinement.
* Ensure evidence from grantee activities, internal data, and external research is synthesized into coherent insights.

Capacity Building & External Engagement
* Strengthen staff capacity to embed learning and data-use practices in daily work.
* Curate and disseminate research, case studies, and best practices relevant to grantmaking strategies.
* Participate in funder networks, peer learning groups, and external events to share organizational insights and gather external knowledge.
** Qualifications
* ** Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public policy, business, or related field.
* Minimum 5–7 years of experience in philanthropy, strategy, learning, or evaluation roles.
* Demonstrated experience with organizational learning systems and use of data in decision-making.
* Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent) and analytics.
* Knowledge of philanthropic trends, grantmaking practices, and evaluation methodologies.
