Overview
National Beef in Kansas City, Missouri, is seeking to hire a qualified professional to join our family as Senior Director Payroll, Human Resources Operations. This on-site position leads field payroll processing, Human Capital Management (HCM) applications, HR policy and administration, talent acquisition, and continuous improvement initiatives for National Beef, covering 10,500 employees across multiple facilities, transportation, and leather divisions. The role partners with business leaders and field-based HR partners to drive HR excellence and supports HR transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, extensive systems knowledge, and excellent communication abilities.

- Senior Director Payroll, Human Resources Operations responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing field payroll processing, HCM applications, HR policy and administration, talent acquisition, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead HR transformation initiatives and partner with business leaders and field HR partners to drive HR excellence across the organization.
- Support and execute HR transformation initiatives; manage change and adoption of new HR processes and technologies.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance HR operations and service delivery; use data and metrics to drive decisions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures compliant with legal standards; ensure consistent administration across the organization.
- Lead deployment, management, and optimization of HCM applications; ensure integration with HR and business strategies.
- Drive talent acquisition strategies and collaborate with hiring managers on staffing needs and recruitment approaches.
- Oversee the payroll process for field operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness; coordinate with the Director of Payroll to improve efficiency.
- Serve as a strategic partner to business leaders and field HR partners; provide guidance to align HR initiatives with business objectives.
- Reports to Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Administration
- Direct Reports:
Systems Administrator - Leadership peers: VP Operations, VP Corporate Communications, VP Talent Development, VP EHS, Directors of Loss Prevention and Benefits/Compensation
- Minimum of twelve years of HR experience with at least eight years in leadership roles
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
Master’s in HR Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred - Extensive knowledge of end-to-end talent operations and management
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proven leadership, critical thinking, and coaching abilities
- Strong project management skills
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and integration planning/implementation is a plus
- Labor relations experience and ability to build tools for union negotiations and positive employee relations is strongly preferred

- Extensive knowledge of HR systems and applications including HCM, payroll, and recruitment platforms
